“Laugh for the Cure” has grown from a modest grass-roots effort started in 2002 by a group of friends in Charlotte whose lives had each been touched by breast cancer, to a national Susan G. Komen program. Laugh for the Cure was founded and led by Tammy Greyshock in celebration of her mother (now a 27-year survivor), to remember loved ones she and her friends had lost, celebrate survivors and help people in the community impacted by the breast cancer. Since its inception, Laugh for the Cure has grown to be the second largest fundraising event for Komen Charlotte and has raised more than $900,000 to help fund education programs, mammograms, diagnostic services and treatment support for local women and men in the Charlotte region. Last year, Laugh for the Cure raised over $100,000.
